Between-Session Messaging Support
Life doesn’t only happen on session days. Some clients benefit from gentle structure and support between appointments—without scheduling additional sessions.
Between-Session Messaging Support offers a contained, intentional way to receive brief guidance, reflection prompts, and skills-based support through secure messaging. This service is designed to help you stay grounded, focused, and connected to the work you’re already doing.
This is not real-time communication and not a replacement for therapy.
What This Support Includes
Brief, skills-based guidance between sessions
Grounding and emotional regulation tools
Attachment-informed reflections and prompts
Support with boundaries, insight, and follow-through
Thoughtful responses delivered through the secure client portal
All messaging takes place inside the HIPAA-compliant SimplePractice platform.
How This Is Different From Brief Questions Between Sessions
Occasional brief logistical or clarifying questions (such as scheduling or a quick clarification related to therapy) are a normal part of ongoing care and do not require enrollment in messaging support.
Between-Session Messaging Support is a separate, structured service designed for ongoing, intentional check-ins and skill reinforcement between sessions. It provides a predictable level of support, response timing, and structure beyond occasional brief contact.
Some questions or concerns are best addressed during a therapy session rather than through messaging.
Examples of Appropriate Check-Ins
Between-session messaging works best for brief, focused check-ins such as:
Noticing emotional patterns or triggers and asking for a grounding or regulation reminder
Requests for help applying tools or concepts already discussed in session
Brief reflections related to boundaries, attachment patterns, or self-awareness
Feeling unsettled or overwhelmed and wanting a reminder of a coping strategy
Sharing a win or progress update and receiving brief reinforcement
What This Support Does Not Include
This service is intentionally limited and does not include:
Crisis or emergency support
Real-time conversations or immediate responses
Trauma processing or EMDR work
Ongoing back-and-forth dialogue
Therapy by text or session replacement
Messages are reviewed during business hours only. Responses are provided within 24–48 business hours.
If you are in crisis or need immediate support, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Who This Support May Be Helpful For
This option may be a good fit if you:
Want support staying grounded between sessions
Appreciate clear structure and boundaries
Are integrating tools we’ve already discussed
Prefer thoughtful written guidance over real-time communication
Are emotionally stable enough to wait for responses
In some cases, reconnecting in session first may be recommended to ensure this level of support is clinically appropriate.

How Responses Work
To keep this support intentional and clinically appropriate, responses are focused and skills-based.
